Waswanipi Day!

A packed tent for the talent show.

Last Friday, Waswanipi celebrated 33 years in its current location. Waswanipi Day was actually two days of celebration. There were games for children, arts and crafts tables, food for sale and shows of strength and talent over Friday and Saturday. The talent show on Friday night featured some acts we're familiar with; Adrian, Miah, Ashley, Elijah and many more performed under bright lights for the packed tent. What a great weekend!

Friday Dodgeball

We had a wicked Friday afternoon sports session last week. The students chose to play Dodgeball and British Bulldog and we're going to play again this week!

Secondary FM goes on Summer Vacation

Yesterday night the last episode of Secondary FM aired on Waswanipi's 93.9 wavelength. Annik and Emily have really enjoyed working with all the awesome students who've made the show happen week after week. A big 'Thank You!' goes out to Charlie, Caroline and Nelson at the radio station for all of their lessons and guidance. Hopefully we'll have the radio show again next year and we can keep learning about this great medium.

Our second-last healthy cooking class occurred yesterday after school. Bonnie helped us make won ton soup.

Shadow Play

The Cree Club / Video Club had a great time yesterday evening. We filmed the footage for a video in which the kids teach the viewer some Cree words. For each word we learned, students made shadow puppets to animate the lesson. Such a bunch of silly geese!
