Today, WJ Happyjack Memorial School hosted the annual Waswanipi Science Fair. Many students came out to participate and show us their scientific experiments and discoveries. Emie and myself (Jessie) had the privilege (and challenge!) of being two judges this Science Fair. Wow, did we have a difficult time choosing! We want to say thank you to everyone who came out and presented their experiments. We were impressed and moved, and there was a lot of time for laughter, too!
We saw students making clouds with only smoke and hot water, other students made lava lamps in front of our eyes, some students softened bone with the help of vinegar, some students made a morse code machine and spelled out "SOS" for us, we learned about the negative effects of drugs and cigarettes, we saw how a heat lamp could transfer water from one container to another through vaporization, some students showed us how to make a rainbow with a prism, we learned about the human brain and lungs, and much more!
It was such an informative and fun day!
Congratulations to all the winners, and good luck next year to everyone!
