Quinton Captures Annie Whiskeychan Day

On Friday May 27 we celebrated Annie Whiskeychan Day downriver. Annie Whiskeychan was one of the early promoters and creators of Cree language instruction in Cree schools. She created much of the curriculum for elementary school instruction that is still used today by the Cree School Board.

Quinton took a camera out and documented the festivities. Here's what we were up to!

Target Practice

Some rabbit and moose meat roasting by the fire.

The moose nose, a delicacy.

Radio Bonanza

Last thursday we had a great radio show. Everyone is getting confident on the mic and the board- next year will be a breeze for these pros! This thursday is our last radio show. Be sure to tune in to the final Secondary FM (93.9 in Waswanipi) from 4-5pm on June 2nd.

Thanks to Emily for these great photos.

Everyone's so stressed!

Quinton took a camera out on the town again last night and came back with some gems. Keep exploring!

Vietnamese Spring Rolls- Healthy Cooking Class # 5

Yesterday we tried something completely new. With Bonnie's guidance, we made fresh Vietnamese spring rolls that require no frying and are easy to assemble.

We started by preparing our filling of rice noodles, basil, cilantro, boiled bacon, shrimp and sprouts.
Miah and Eternity shell some shrimp.

Then we prepared the rice paper roll.

Filled it with our chosen toppings,
And rolled it up.
To finish the meal, we added our homemade almond sauce.

And Enjoy!

Thanks to Quinton and Kevin, our food photographers!
