Big pictures of a small world! De belles photos d'un petit monde!

For some complex reasons that we won't explain here (and that we don't fully understand), when you reverse a camera lens, you instantly get a super cheap macro lens! With a cheap (3 $) lens reverser ring and the basic kit-lens that comes with most reflex cameras, it is possible to take astonishing macro photographs!  The wider is the focal length  (lower «mm» number) of a lens, the more «powerful» your do-it-yourself macro lens will be.
Here are some visual experiments we made yesterday and last Thursday.

Last Wednesday, Bonnie Leung,Waswanipi's nutritionist and dietititian, showed us a super tasty and healthy recipe : Lettuce Wraps!

- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced / 2  gousses d'ail, haché
- 1 tablespoon steak mixed spices / 1 cuillère à table d'épices à steak
- Asian chile pepper sauce (optional) / Sauce piquante asiatique (optionnel)
- 1 green sweet pepper / 1 poivron vert, tranché en lamelles
- 1 stalk of celery / 1 tige de céleri
- 1 bunch asian coriander, chopped / 1 bouquet de coriande, haché finement
- 2 teaspoons Asian sesame seed, cooked / Deux cuillères à thé de graines de sésames
- Few sliced seaweed sheets / Quelques feuilles d'algue de mer
- 5 whole wheat pita bread / 5 pains pitas de blé entier

1. Rinse whole lettuce leaves and pat dry, being careful not tear them. Set aside.

2. In a medium skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef, stirring often and reducing the heat to medium, if necessary. Drain, and set aside to cool.

3. Cook the onion, garlic, and spices in the same pan, stirring frequently. Stir in chopped cooked beef, green pepper, and celery; continue cooking until the onions just begin to wilt, about 2 minutes.

4. Arrange lettuce leaves around the outer edge of a large serving platter, and pile meat mixture in the center. To serve, allow each person to spoon a portion of the meat into a lettuce leaf. Wrap the lettuce around the meat like a burrito, and enjoy! if desired, serve with fresh coriander, sesame seed, and seaweed sheets with the wrap. For more option, put all ingredients inside the pita bread and serve as lunch or snack.
