Waswanipi Art Fair!

Rodica and Mary collected artwork from all classes in the elementary and secondary schools to create a lovely art show in the Rainbow library. Some pieces were chosen to participate in the regional art show in Waskaganish later this month.





This was carving of the Rainbow school was created by Donovan in grade six!

CSB Regional Public Speaking Competition

The Cree School Board Regional Public Speaking Contest was hosted last night in Ouje-Bougoumou's Waapihtiiwewan School. Melody Salt represented Waswanipi in the French Sector, and Elijah Mianscum participated in the English Sector. A lovely evening was had by all! Thank you Ouje!

Homemade Bread

We have decided to extend healthy cooking week into healthy cooking club. Once a week, on Wednesday, students are given the chance to make a healthy meal or snack after school. Last week we made whole wheat bread. Tomorrow, we'll be making some stuffed peppers. Yum!

Chisasibi Mini Basketball and Mini Soccer Tournament

Twenty students from the elementary and high schools visited Chisasibi from April 1-3 for a weekend of sports. The Waswanipi teams were great - winning gold medals in Boys Soccer and Hockey, and Girls Hockey. The Girls also won silver in Soccer. Way to go team! And a huge thanks to James Bay Eeyou School for the great weekend!

Drop the Pop Winners!

The High School participated in Drop the Pop two weeks ago and the winners were announced yesterday morning. They recieved gift certificates to the sports store.

Congratulations Ashley!

Ashley Gull was announced as the lucky winner of a digital camera from the Cree Health Board. She entered a photo into the Health Board's Photovoice contest, depicting the good life, and her name was drawn on Cree Language Radio last Tuesday.

We hope that you keep taking great pictures with your new camera!
